Meet Your Guide
Hello! I'm Sarah Harmon, mental health therapist, mother to 2 girls, and mindfulness teacher bringing over a decade of experience in maternal mental health, mindfulness, and body-based healing.
While I have extensive professional training and experience, my deepest insights come from navigating my own strained relationship with my mother, from whom I'm currently estranged.
The School of MOM emerged from this intersection of personal and professional experience—it's my life's purpose to support women and mothers in transforming their relationships with themselves and their children.

A New Approach to the Mother Wound
For years, I've been seeking a more helpful way to talk about "The Mother Wound" — the unconscious pain, shame, and unresolved trauma passed down through generations of women.
While The Mother Wound is becoming more well known, the term itself is HEAVY! As one woman said to me, "I get it's important, but when I hear the Mother Wound, I feel like I've been hit by a 2x4."
After working with hundreds of women, I've come to learn that I'm not alone in feeling like The Mother Wound is a burden and yet another thing to blame on my mother - which keeps us all in a victim mentality and can be a block to powerful healing.
The truth is this "wound," while deeply personal, is deeply IMpersonal.

Common Patterns We ALL Experience as Women and Mothers:
✔︎ People pleasing and perfectionism
✔︎ Repeating unhealthy/unhelpful patterns of parenting (i.e. guilt, manipulation, anger, defensiveness)
✔︎ Low self-worth and need for validation (that you may never get!)
✔︎ Lack of emotional availability and flexibility
✔︎ Struggle to feel nurturing or compassionate
✔︎ GUILT, shame and overcompensation
✔︎ Self-criticism and low self-confidence
